Certified grain-fed calves

Since 2000, the grain-fed calf production in Quebec is subject to a certification. To sell a grain-fed calf to the electronic auction, the producer must be accredited as a 'certified grain-fed veal producer' and comply with the specifications of the certification. The facilities & production methods must conform with the standards of the certification and approved by the Fédérations des producteurs de bovins du Québec. These norms, which include the type of housing, ventilation, lighting as well as the feeding quality enables the obtainment of an A-list product. In grocery stores, only the meat stamped with the official Certified grain-fed veal of Quebec stamp is produced according to these rules. This measure assure consumers of a high quality beef produced under conditions ensuring their healthy and comfortable lives.
